Throughout its long history Brest has always been and still remains a multi-confessional city. Today there are 17 registered denominations, united into 48 religious communities here. The pilgrimage department of Brest diocesan administration has worked out the routes of visiting 26 shrines of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Italy, as well as 6 out of 22 active Orthodox churches of the city over the Bug and 2 monasteries.
